Picking A Wedding Photographer

I understand that choosing a wedding photographer can be overwhelming. I can relate to your situation since I’ve been in your shoes before. My goal is to provide you with a hassle-free and enjoyable experience. Here’s a brief overview of what you can expect from my wedding photography services from start to finish.

I take a personal interest in ensuring my clients’ wedding day is fun, relaxing, and stress-free. I’m committed to assisting my brides throughout the entire wedding process, ensuring that they receive the best care possible. To achieve this, I only accept a limited number of weddings each year.

While it’s important to find a wedding photographer whose photo style aligns with your preferences, it’s equally, if not more, crucial to find someone with whom you feel a connection and at ease. After all, your photographer will capture the most significant moments of your wedding, and they’ll be around you more than anyone else on your special day. Thus, it’s crucial to find a wedding photographer you enjoy working with and trust.

3. Final Timeline Chat

You will have two chances to review the album before it is printed and sent directly to your home.

SAMPLE TIMELINE

Below is a short sample timeline for you to use while planning. This timeline includes a first look because it is the more common option and allows for the most time for each event. This is a timeline set up for 8-10 hours of coverage. Use this as a guide when needed. I will contact you before the big day to obtain the necessary details for your timeline.

1:10-2:00 PM - Getting Ready

2:45-3:00 PM - First Look

4:30-5:30 PM - Bride in Hiding

GETTING READY

When deciding on a space to get ready, consider one with plenty of windows for optimal lighting. I’ll direct you to a clean area with ample natural light when it’s time to put on your dress. Before I arrive, please gather all your details and place them in one box or bag for easy access. This includes your rings, invitation suite, jewelry, shoes, dress, veil, hairpieces, perfume, menus, favors, name cards, bouquet, boutonnieres, and anything else you want photographed.

If possible, have your florist deliver your bouquet and boutonnieres before I arrive to include them in the photos. Consider purchasing a velvet ring box in your wedding colors for a personalized touch.

Make sure your bridesmaids, mom, and anyone helping you into your dress are ready 15 minutes before your scheduled time to include them in the photos. If you want the groomsmen getting ready photos, ensure it is on the timeline or communicate it directly to me.

Schedule hair and makeup to be done around 30 minutes before you’re expected to get into your dress to allow for any delays. And if you could mail me a copy of your wedding invitation, that would be amazing. Let me know if you need my mailing address.

FIRST LOOKS

Having one is optional, but there are advantages to it.

There are numerous reasons why first looks have become a popular trend, and the benefits they offer are simply incredible. Essentially, a first look involves the bride and groom taking some private time to see each other before the actual wedding ceremony. This time is usually shared exclusively between the couple and their photographers and videographers. While I personally love this idea when it comes to wedding days, I always encourage couples to make their own decision. Ultimately, it is their special day, and their preferences matter the most. Therefore, it is important to carefully consider whether a first look is right for you and why it comes highly recommended.

Your only alone time

Throughout the chaos of a wedding day, it will very likely be your ONLY alone time. It allows you to have a chance to talk and enjoy hanging out with each other. Groom, you get to tell your bride how beautiful she looks as soon as you see her! You get to extend your day together by 2-3 hours.

Logistically, it’s a dream!

You can finish the majority of your wedding photos before the ceremony begins. We will jump right into bride and groom + bridal party photos after the first look. This means no long cocktail hours with guests waiting on us to finish taking pictures.

Fresh hair and makeup

My brides love this because your hair and makeup are fresh for all your portraits. You don’t have to worry about touching up before photos because you just had your hair and makeup done! Your bridesmaids will love you for this as well.

It diminishes nerves

So many couples say their nerves went away after they saw each other! It helps you to feel more relaxed and makes the ceremony more enjoyable. You’ll probably remember your ceremony better because you weren’t so nervous. The whole thing would probably be a blur otherwise.

More portraits in your final gallery

With a first look, you can enjoy taking your wedding portraits and not feel rushed. Plus, you’ll receive MORE variety in your images because of the extra time! It makes taking photos much more enjoyable because you aren’t trying to squeeze them all in.

You can enjoy cocktail hour

Once we do family formalities directly after the ceremony, you can enjoy a cocktail hour or start the reception! If your bridal parties aren’t family members, they want all cocktail hour.

Father/Daughter first look

If you and your dad are incredibly close, a father-daughter first look is one of the SWEETEST things you can do with your dad. It allows him to see you and your whole face before everything gets crazy and a particular time for you to connect. These quickly become one of my FAVORITE parts from past weddings because they are so emotional and sweet! You’ll be surprised at how passionate your dad gets when he sees you for the first time. If you want this in your timeline, let me know so we can add 10 minutes to make this happen! I did this at my wedding, which is some of my favorite images.

Bridesmaids first look

A first look with bridesmaids has become one of the most fun things on wedding days! Especially if most of your girls haven’t seen your dress yet, it’s the perfect way to show it to them and capture their priceless reactions simultaneously. The only challenge is ensuring everyone is dressed and put together by the time you have your dress on, so good communication with your girlfriends is a must if you want to add this to your timeline! It typically only takes about 5-10 minutes during the getting ready portion of the day.

Unplugged ceremony

Unplugged ceremonies can greatly benefit photographers. By requesting that guests avoid using their devices during the ceremony, the resulting photos are of higher quality. I had an unplugged ceremony at my wedding, which proved to be an excellent decision. Guests were respectful and could fully immerse themselves in the moment without distractions.

To make this happen at your ceremony, As a suggestion, it would be helpful to have a sign at the venue’s entrance requesting guests to keep their devices away. Additionally, you can add a brief message in your ceremony program reminding guests not to use their phones during the ceremony. Having your officiant make a quick announcement before the ceremony starts to reinforce the message might also be helpful. This will make your photographer’s job easier and allow your guests to be fully present and enjoy the moment of your union without any distractions. It’s a great way to encourage your guests to disconnect for a little while and appreciate this special moment with you.

Wedding Family Portraits:
A Family Photo Shot List for Your Wedding Day

To all the lovely brides out there, I wanted to share some thoughts about family photos on your wedding day. As you may know, this can be a tricky part of the day for everyone involved. Emotions can run high between time constraints, busy parents, and tired little ones. However, a simple solution to this challenge is creating a family photo shot list. Doing so can relieve tensions and create beautiful, lasting memories. So don’t worry, trust your photographer and enjoy your special day. Congratulations on your wedding!

Should I hire a wedding planner?

Working with wedding planners is essential for a perfect wedding day. They’ll make the arrangements and match you with vendors that fit your budget and style. You can also choose full-service planning or day-of styling services to bring your vision to life. Hiring a wedding coordinator can relieve stress and make your big day smoother. It’s an investment worth making for a stress-free and enjoyable wedding day.

I don’t just capture images – I focus on people.
